Tuesday, August 16, 2005His position was that I don't send him enough "good" patients to justify this one patient who hasn't paid his bill. So, how many well-insured or wealthy patients do I have to refer to a given specialist to earn enough credits to ask for help for one uninsured patient? What's more, am I really to believe that I have to keep track of such nonsense? When I recommend a specialist to a patient, I try to chose one that will work best for them. Someone whose medical judgement I respect, who has expertise in the area the patient needs, whose practice location is accessible, and who can see the patient in a timely manner. In this particular case, this specialist was the best choice. Or so I thought. Did I know this patient was a deadbeat? I knew he was poor. I knew he didn't come from the cream of society. But I also knew that he needed medical attention beyond my skills. Obviously, I chose the wrong specialist. It's a mistake I won't make again. posted by Sydney on 8/16/2005 06:04:00 PM 0 comments 0 Comments: |
