Wednesday, October 19, 2005Waiting time between referral from a general practitioner and treatment fell to 17.7 weeks in 2005 from 17.9 weeks in 2004, according to the Vancouver-based Fraser Institute. The right-wing think-tank said the figures are based on averages of all 12 specialties and 10 provinces surveyed. The institute's 15th annual survey shows wait times increased in five provinces and decreased in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Quebec and Prince Edward Island. The survey suggests Ontario has the shortest total wait among the provinces at 16.3 weeks, followed by Manitoba and Alberta. Saskatchewan, despite a 7.8 week reduction in waits, still has the longest total wait at 25.5 weeks, followed by New Brunswick and Newfoundland. Gee, and my patients complain if they have to wait four weeks to see a specialist. posted by Sydney on 10/19/2005 08:30:00 AM 0 comments 0 Comments: |
