Mouths of Babes: I spent the weekend at a Girl Scout "camp in" at a popular science museum. The girls (11 and 12 year olds) seemed to have a good time, with unlimited and uncrowded access to the exhibits. Their favorite was by far and away the space exhibit. We had trouble pulling them away from it even for the dance and the 3-D movie.

As for me,sleeping in a museum hallway, constantly worried that one of the more hyper kids would try to sneak off in the middle of the night and then getting up for more museum activities wearing the same clothes I slept in left me feeling like I used to feel post-call in residency. Plus, my forty-something brain and eyes turns the I-Max 3-D into a vertigionous experience.

As we drove into Columbus early on a Saturday evening, the girls were taken with the big buildings and wide avenues. It inspired this exchange:

First Girl Scout: "This is just like New York City!"

Second Girl Scout: "No it's not. New York City has people in it."

Sad but true. Ohio cities have no people in them outside of working hours.

Hey don't forget Wisconsin.

A couple of years ago the TV folks covering a Packer game panned their cameras down main street of Green Bay. One announcer said something like "Boy, the streets are dead on a Sunday in Green Bay." (Hey guy, there's a game on!)

I'd much rather live in Green Bay than NYNY. You live longer too, (or maybe it just seems longer.)
