There are thousands of Americans who could verify this. They are called veterans. I have several pieces of metal in my body that have moved remarkable distances in the 38 years since I acquired them.
I bet any VA hospital would have considerable experience on this issue. I doubt it would occur to the media to consult the VA, however, much too icky for them.
