Biting Words: The Toronto Sun on Canadian healthcare:

When all is said and done, the philosophy on which Canada's ailing medicare system is based is this.

That Canadians are perfectly content to eat sawdust, as long as they can be assured that no one is ever going to be allowed to buy a steak.


Ouch.

    Very true. Recent numbers from Statistics Canada show that average wait times are 4.0 weeks for seeing a specialist, 3.0 weeks for X-rays and 4.3 weeks for elective surgery. That's a total of 11.3 weeks, not including the wait time to see the GP! Are Canadians fuming? No. About 80% are satisfied with wait times.
