Wednesday, April 24, 2002I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it can help people who have severe symptoms that are not controlled by other medication. On the other hand, serious complications have happened with it's use - including death. I commend the panel for recommending that stringent guidelines for its use be implemented. That ,at least, will encourage the company to promote it responsibly. When it was on the market before, patients would ask for it because they had read about it as being the "best treatment" for irritable bowel. The assumption being that if it works when other drugs fail, it's the best. Now, at least both doctors and patients will be aware of the severity of the potential complications and exercise caution in its use. posted by Sydney on 4/24/2002 07:19:00 AM 0 comments 0 Comments: |
