Broadening the Scope: The CDC is finally reaching out to practicing physicians to educate them about smallpox and smallpox vaccine. Officials announced an unprecedented mailing of smallpox information packets to 3.5 million doctors nationwide. It’s a step in the right direction.
They’ve also updated their physician webpage to include physician registration for email updates on bioterror preparedness, and how to tell if a smallpox vaccine has taken hold in both first time and repeat recipients. Lots of good information there. And what a relief to see them finally taking steps to include those most likely to be involved in a smallpox attack.
