Saturday, May 10, 2003The real problem is that what people calling for this want is to increase health care without increasing its costs. They want something for nothing. They keep hoping that someone will turn up with a magic pie that gets bigger every time you take a slice out of it. There’s a lot to that. One of the reasons our healthcare costs are increasing is that the baby boomers have entered the age span when they need things like blood pressure medicine, cholesterol medicine, arthritis medicine, cardiac catheterizations, and colonoscopies. To be sure, there are some areas where costs can be cut - such as in the choice of drugs we use - but those cost savings aren’t going to occur as long as someone else is paying for them. posted by Sydney on 5/10/2003 08:31:00 AM 0 comments 0 Comments: |
