Wednesday, September 24, 2003Surviving cancer in childhood can lead to health problems later in life, according to a study. Researchers found nearly half go on to develop at least one fairly significant health problem linked to their cancer, or its treatment. But what’s really amazing is that the majority come out of their ordeal psychologically intact: Almost 20% of survivors showed signs of psychological distress. So the vast majority show no signs of psychological distress.Yet another testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
