Friday, January 30, 2004Hospital care 31% Physician and clinical services 22% Other spending* 22% Prescription drugs 11% Nursing-home care 7% Program administration 7% *Includes dental services, home health care, durable medical products, over-the-counter medicines, public health, research and construction. Taken together, outpatient services and prescription drugs account for the majority of spending. These both also happen to be the most sensitive to consumer demand. And injecting some patient (and doctor) responsibility in paying for them would do a world of good when it comes to cutting costs. posted by Sydney on 1/30/2004 07:52:00 AM 0 comments 0 Comments: |
