Researchers found that women with the lowest levels of 'Good' HDL cholesterol showed a risk of developing breast cancer up to three times greater than women with the highest levels of HDL.
'Low HDL-C, as part of the metabolic syndrome, is associated with increased postmenopausal breast cancer risk,' conclude the authors.
The study isn't completely available online, only the abstract is. And the data are only presented as "relative risk," a method favored by medical researchers to exaggerate the claims of their data. But don't expect that to stop drug companies from hyping their cholesterol lowering products as preventives for breast cancer. posted by Sydney on
