Wednesday, August 18, 2004An Akron family filed suit Tuesday against a Denny's restaurant in Springfield Township after allegedly being attacked by red ants. Julia Welch of Berwin Street and five family members filed the lawsuit in Summit County Common Pleas Court seeking more than $100,000 in damages. According to the lawsuit, Welch and her family were seated in booths at a table at the Denny's on South Arlington Road in August 2002 when red ants ``bit, scratched and irritated'' them without warning. One family member became infected from bites and scratches and needed medical treatment, the lawsuit claims. All other plaintiffs claim lesser injuries. Fire ant bites can be nasty, but those are usually found in the Southeast, not the Northeast. It's hard to believe the ants caused $100,000 worth of pain and suffering, though. posted by Sydney on 8/18/2004 08:18:00 AM 0 comments 0 Comments: |
