"When many cures are offered for a disease, it means the disease is not curable" -Anton Chekhov
''Once you tell people there's a cure for something, the more likely they are to pressure doctors to prescribe it.'' -Robert Ehrlich, drug advertising executive.
"Opinions are like sphincters, everyone has one." - Chris Rangel
Notable Notes: Chief Justice William Rehnquist's thyroid cancer surgery is raising a few eyebrows. The press release from the Supreme Court refers to his "tracheotomy." At least one regular reader wonders if the Court confused the term with "thyroidectomy," the usual treatment for thyroid cancer. Elswhere, pundits are speculating that if he had a tracheotomy his cancer must be very bad. It is odd that he would be planning to return to work next Monday after a tracheotomy.
Wouldn't it be horrible if all of the confusion and speculation turned out to be just a mix-up in medical terminology? (Although, I suppose if that were the case, his doctors would have spoken up by now. Unless, of course, they've been too busy...) posted by Sydney on
