Sunday, December 19, 2004And what is Christmas without a Tomie DePaolo book? He's got a way with multi-cultural tales, especially Christmas ones. From Mexico, The Legend of the Poinsettia, from Italy, The Legend of Old Befana, and from the American Southwest, The Night of Las Posadas. But my all-time favorite is another Italian tale, Tony's Bread, which tells the story of how our family's favorite Christmas Eve dessert, panettone came to be. And for adults, in the English tradition of Christmas ghost stories lives on in Robertson Davies's High Spirits. Another book I've read more than once. posted by Sydney on 12/19/2004 05:19:00 PM 0 comments 0 Comments: |
