Canada's Orange Revolution: Canada's family-doctor-turned-Supreme-Court-litigator won his case yesterday. Canadians - or at least Quebcois - can now purchase private health insurance as a back-up to their national healthcare. The doctor is gloating:

The 53-year-old strode into a Montreal hotel ballroom wearing a wide smile and clutching an orange-hued rose. Just over an hour after the Supreme Court of Canada dealt a body blow to the public health system, Dr. Chaoulli was declaring victory.

'This is another Orange Revolution,' he said, taking a page from the recent upheavals in Ukraine. 'I am relieved for Canadians. We will have delivered the Canadian people from another form of tyranny. When you attack the life of a person, the result is death.'

The unions, however, see it as a death knell.
