Monday, October 24, 2005Viagra not only fights impotence but also reduces the harmful effect of stress on the heart, it is claimed. ....All participants were first given dobutamine injections and then randomly assigned to two groups, either treated with Viagra or a sugar pill placebo. They were then given a second injection to see if taking Viagra made any difference to the effect of the dobutamine. The injections stimulated heart function, raising the rate and force of heart beats. The effects were similar to what happens after emotional or exercise stress, or as a result of heart failure. After the first injection, the force of heart contractions rose by 150% in all the volunteers. The increase was repeated in the placebo group after the second injection. But in the group treated with Viagra, it was reduced by 50%, resulting in a smaller increase in blood flow and blood pressure. Too bad it wasn't around for Nelson Rockefeller. posted by Sydney on 10/24/2005 08:54:00 PM 0 comments 0 Comments: |
