Tuesday, October 18, 2005Vaughan said the difficulty of navigating through various links, lists, and pages reemphasized the fact that a lot of assistance would be needed to educate seniors about the plan options available to them. ''All of the different volunteers need to roll up their sleeves and get ready for some massive education in church basements, senior centers, community halls, and congressional town hall meetings. The preferred way seniors like to get information is face to face; reading is kind of OK, but computers are not so good,'' he said. (emphasis mine.) For many, computers are not only "not so good," - they're useless. I've been trying to encourage my patients to sign up for a secure message service instead of relying on the telephones. So far I have only one person over 65 who is using it - and he worked with computers extensively before he retired. Everyone else tells me "they don't do computers." posted by Sydney on 10/18/2005 08:22:00 AM 0 comments 0 Comments: |
