Thursday, October 13, 2005As a practicing physician, I am worried that there will be a major shortfall of flu vaccine this year, despite statements to the contrary by federal officials. Every year, for the last 30 years, our internal medicine practice has received our first shipment of flu vaccine by late September. Now, in mid-October, we have just received word of a promised shipment early next month. Normally, we try to immunize our patients by the end of October, because influenza can strike as early as November. I suspect that government interference in the normal distribution patterns will be seen again this year and that at the end of the season, some patients will be unable to get vaccinated, while some health departments will be discarding unused doses. posted by Sydney on 10/13/2005 08:23:00 PM 0 comments 0 Comments: |
