Monday, November 21, 2005The H5 virus found in a commercial duck on the Chilliwack farm is not the same type that has been blamed for killing at least 65 people in Asia since 2003, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said Sunday. Evans said the federal government hoped the U.S. would not take this action, considering the virus found in the duck is low pathogenic, meaning it's not viewed as a public health threat. 'That would have been consistent with how we've treated low path findings in the United States previously. But again, we're working in an extremely sensitive international environment at this point,' Evans said. Even though the duck's virus was not the type that everyone is concerned about, 60,000 of his brethern are being gassed. Aren't we all being a little over sensitive about this? posted by Sydney on 11/21/2005 06:31:00 PM 0 comments 0 Comments: |
