Friday, December 23, 2005Only two of Hwang's 11 claimed stem-cell lines existed when he submitted his 2005 paper to the journal Science, Roe Jung Hye, dean of research of affairs at Seoul National, told a press briefing earlier today. The university is conducting genetic tests on all Hwang's research, including his August claim he cloned the world's first dog, she said. ``There is sufficient evidence that results were deliberately manipulated, and Professor Hwang accepts this at some level,'' Roe said. ``We don't think that the data in the 2005 Science study was incorrect because of simple mistakes.'' ..... ``This throws up questions about peer reviewed papers in medical journals: this one appears to have gotten through unchallenged, which is certainly a failing,'' Yes, it certainly does.
