Ready, Set, Go... Today is pre-order your flu vaccine day - for the 2006-2007 influenza season. Ordering begins at 12 noon, EST. Sanofi-Pasteur has a count-down clock that pops up in the computer screen for registered customers. It seems like such hype, but last year they say they sold out within 36 hours of opening up the orders. True? Who knows. I can't shake the feeling that I have after a car salesman tells me that there's another couple who wants to buy this car....

As expected, I couldn't get onto the website, and the 800 number was busy all afternoon. I feel like the idiots who line up early in the morning on Black Friday to get the special price on the items in the sales circular of which there is only one or two per store. I have banned Aventis-Sanofi-Pasteur representatives from my office. That's the only way I can send a message to the company that I don't like the way they do business with private practice physicians. It looks like once again my patients will be lining up at the drug stores and the supermarkets this fall to get their flu shots.
