Friday, March 02, 2007Less than a year after regulators approved a vaccine to prevent cervical cancer, Ohio has joined the fray over whether to require it for girls. Rep. Edna Brown, a Toledo Democrat, introduced legislation Wednesday that calls for vaccinating girls entering sixth grade. It might not be so: A diverse group of naysayers includes social conservatives, the American Academy of Family Physicians and Gov. Ted Strickland. The governor will not sign a law requiring the vaccinations, spokesman Keith Dailey said. The Republican House leadership also opposes the mandate, a spokeswoman said. This might be the first and last time our new governor and the Republicans agree on anything. posted by Sydney on 3/02/2007 07:56:00 PM 0 comments 0 Comments: |
