Thursday, May 10, 2007The Montana logger said the idea to travel cross-country in a covered wagon was planted in his head in 2005 when he was diagnosed with lymphoma. And after the logging ranch where he worked with horses was sold, Crafton decided to take the trip across the country he had dreamed of for so long. So he rigged up a hay wagon using flexible fencing and tarps to fashion it into a covered wagon. Crafton, with his two Suffolk Punch draft horses, Max and Tom, two Great Pyrenees dogs, Katie and Kerrmutt, and $75 in his pocket, set off last August on their journey east. ....Crafton said he was diagnosed with cancer around the same age as his mother. She lived about seven years after her diagnosis. ...Crafton said he is now treating his cancer with homeopathic medicine. ``Either holistic medicine will cure me or I will die,'' he said. The goal of his journey is to get to meet folks along the way. He hopes to reach the Atlantic Ocean in the Boston area by July 1. Here's his website. He makes about 20-25 miles a day, better than the original covered wagons. Guess those highways make a difference. posted by Sydney on 5/10/2007 09:28:00 AM 2 comments 2 Comments:
