The Textiles Were Magnificent: Longtime readers of The New Republic's movie critic, Stanley Kaufman, know that he's in love with a huge fan of Emma Thompson. But his review of Nanny McPhee (subscription required) takes the cake. It's a fawning review, which includes movie fan trivia such as the birth date of the Thompson offspring, but never manages to say whether the movie itself is good, bad, or indifferent. But the textiles were magnificent, and the music "comfy":

Additionally, some of the textiles, tweed and velvet, that the designer Nic Ede used for the men's costumes are knockouts. And there is a comfy wall-to-wall score by Patrick Doyle, who did the memorable music for the two Kenneth Branagh films of Shakespeare in which Thompson appeared.

Presumably those Shakespeare films were only worthwhile because Thompson appeared in them.
