A Study in Contrasts: Medical professional organization political donations in 1990 and in 2006. The reason? Surely it must be tort reform.

Nurses have a different pattern of giving.

    My grasp of politics isn't particularly nuanced, but wouldn't the change from 1990 to 2006 also possibly reflect the political power of the time? In 1990, there was a more even split of Democrat/Republican power. In 2006, until the elections took place, the Republicans were firmly in charge. Many companies hedge their bets by donating to the party in power with a small minority devoted to the other one just in case. I see no reason why the AMA might not do the same.
