Bursting Balloons: With the official kick off of Christmas shopping season just two days away, consumer watchdogs are sending out dangerous toy warnings:

The group also found that manufacturers continue to market latex balloons to children younger than 8, despite the choking risk. Children that young should never be given balloons to play with, the report recommended.

It's true that young children (and pets) can choke on deflated or popped balloons, but let's hope the watchdogs never go so far as to have them banned.

    That article caught my eye as well yesterday, particularly the line "choking on small parts, balls and balloons remains a leading cause of death and injury in kids younger than 15."

    I crunched the numbers and, no surprise, that statement is way off.
